Branching out to Tanzania
43 Sock Monkeys are on their way to Tanzania today thanks to the handiwork of students of Tommy Douglas Secondary School in Vaughan, ON and the great big heart (and suitcase!) of OSM’s newest Operative, Gloria Beresford-Last who will travel to Africa with her Mom this summer on a volunteer mission with The Olive Branch for Children. The Olive Branch is an NGO serving vulnerable women and children in remote areas of Eastern Africa, developing programs for HIV/AIDS prevention and care, early childhood education, food security and sustainable, community based economy.
Extra special thanks go to Lead Toronto Operative Diana Brugos for readying the delegation on short notice and stitching up some smiles to swing across the miles! Stay tuned for photos and stories of the sock monkeys in their new homes.
